I Can't Breathe (For George Floyd)

It was the moment the pot boiled over It was the straw that broke the camel's back It's been going on for such a long, long time Being punished for being black All around the world, people taking to the streets Protesting the men in blue When those who protect become the murders Well, what else are we to do I can't breathe I can't breathe Oh, I can't breathe Racism's got its knee on the neck Of our democracy And we won't back down cuz with no justice There can be no peace Say his name, George Floyd But there are so many more like him And so, we fight for their rights And for systems of oppression to end They can't breathe They can't breathe Suffocated by inequality Well, here I sit in my privilege I'll never really know what it's like But I'm lucky enough to still have breath So, I'll add my tiny voice to the fight Black lives matter Black lives matter All lives can't matter until black lives matter
