He ran as an independent against the incumbent Democrat, Julian Bagby, who was backed by the powerful Kansas City Pendergast political machine, and a Republican challenger, Aaron Hailer, with a margin of victory of 724 (9.7%) out of a total 7,454 votes cast. |
