What happens to a dream deferred Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun Or fester like a sore And then run Does it stink like rotten meat Or crust and sugar over Like syrupy sweet Maybe it just sags like a heavy load Or does it explode I had heart to heart with God To examine my interest Am I rapping for the fame And my selfish ambitions Or do I do this With intentions of making a difference Help people live the kind of life That Duval has been spitting My mind wants to know now Guess its so conflicted What if my life and lifestyle Becomes a contradiction The show can never go on If I need intermission Guess these are some of my fears I'm not use to admitting My intuition says you got it man Just go and get it Failing will guarantee success to those Who stay committed Take some truth from your fans Also some from your critics They'll keep you lifted While you keep cultivating your penship There's really no competition When you're in your gifting The measurement of success Is the dream you've been given See the ending through your vision Then be purpose driven The journey's the cross you bear But once you're there it's finished Don't let the enemy come in And plant the seed of doubt And talk you out of everything God said He'll bring about It's your destiny child With the group or without So just live it And forget all the ones who ain't down
