In my darkest hour When all hope was lost I turned to you for help You fixed all my problems And then you made my life hell My magnum opus My greatest artwork A portrait of my deepest self Exposed the hurt buried beneath On the day that I first met you I arrived with laughter and smiles Welcoming hands passed you around You took me into a warm embrace Put my darkest worries to rest Showered with words of praise Infinite bliss and endless happiness I was torn from my roots Transformed into a man I do not know The clouds were there in the beginning Chased away by your brilliant rays But how long could you keep them away For even the brightest of stars The hottest of flames Will one day burn itself out Until nothing is left, but longing Longing for the sweet kiss of joy The day that the storm came Oh, who could have known Through your intoxicating scent I was all but a cripple Crippled by my desire To possess and cherish you forever The beauty in life you have shown me The pleasures that were so addicting Has now faded away into nothingness Who is this now I see standing before me And what are these unfamiliar thoughts that plague my mind Is this me? or is this the real me?
