A Life That Passes Me By

There lies a great fear in man A pondering of years to come for what shall and will be the history I leave behind A flash of light slip of the tongue the world goes black before my eyes back to dust and bones Such fragile humanity Oh, to be alone So alone When the stage lights fade to black Alone in a cold empty cell Face to face with my truest self Deep within my empty shell The world around me fell A monster created through fear Filled with suspicion and rage Silently lashing out at the world Childhood pains forever buried The mask of the psychopath Has taken control The boy is dead But the man lives on An emotionless shell His life torn apart by lies and deceit He tries to love But jealous roots dig deep He tries to fight But the enemy hides Forever stranded on the sidelines Yet the inner soul knows He watches from his cage Watches as his life is thrown away And so here I am, left behind Forever pondering, and forever doomed To a life that passes me by
