Aphrodite's Prophecy

I met a girl named Aphrodite when I was young She sang me a song about who I'd become The lyrics said that I would shine like the sun And I found myself lost in the music she sung So lost I missed the signs that said I should run And by the time her song was done Aphrodite knew she had won She knew I'd pull the trigger when she passed the gun You'd think Aphrodite was a fitting name With her beautiful face and her perfect frame But her and the goddess are far from the same Cause the goddess brings beauty But she just brought pain We met and sang for years After time it was like she was always there Her music became all I could hear As she sang about all I should fear After only being praised when I slowly disappeared I was often brought to tears But Aphrodite would comfort me and hold me near I still question if that comfort was sincere You'd think Aphrodite was a fitting name With her beautiful face and her perfect frame But her and the goddess are far from the same Cause the goddess brings beauty But she just brought pain She taught me some lessons while she made me expire Like being desirable is not always desired And the sun only shines because it's on fire And those that sound like gods may double as liars
