Foxes

Rise and shine to the darkness in my home The trees outside are trembling in the cold I pick up the pieces of my heart and hope You should've seen my surprise when I looked out my window Foxes on the roof in my backyard Resting their bones for the day There must've been 3 or 4 of them with their sunrise coats turned grey One looked hungry and one looked tough One looked to me like a month old pup So I'll put some food out on a plate And hope they don't go away Fast forward 3 months they're at my door Every evening back for more Bagheera, Baloo and Mogly Lost in a jungle of concrete It's funny cos I know how it feels Always fighting for you next meal So I guess I'm not that different from the Foxes on the roof in my backyard Resting their bones for the day There must've been 3 or 4 of them with their sunrise coats turned grey One looked hungry and one looked tough One looked to me like he'd all grown up So I'll put some food out on a plate And hope they don't go away But one day I woke up and its like something felt so wrong So I went to my window but my furry friends were gone Something tells me I don't need to worry anymore But that won't stop me checking every morning for the Foxes on the roof in my backyard Coming home for the day I wish I could see them all again just to know that they're okay So if you're hungry or down on luck And you need something to pick you up I'll put some food out on a plate You'll always have somewhere to stay
