Honeymoon Phase

I don't mind getting involved with someone new I just hate the honeymoon phase The cupcake love days Like do we actually like each other Or is it just the excitement of connecting with someone new The thrill of flirting with an unfamiliar face It seems like people say and do whatever Just to get you comfortable enough to allow them into your space Just to get you comfortable enough to think That's your new safe place But it's like when did we go from hey beautiful to what's up Why introduce me to a vibe you can't keep up with Why fill me with an energy you weren't even in touch with I hate the honeymoon phase I really hate those days I hate how good it feels in the beginning Where you only focus on what you like about me You only see what you allow your eyes to see But after a while reality kicks in and you start to learn me You start realizing some things that you couldn't physically see in the beginning It's just scary because there's always a chance where their expectations Will be too high for you to meet And now you're not what they thought you would be I know I said it before but I hate the honeymoon phase And I'm pretty sure I hate fairytales And I don't like love stories because every book comes to an end And if you ask me about my love stories I'd say zero stars wouldn't recommend But maybe it's just me because I give up on myself to So this is really nothing new sometimes I struggle loving myself so I get why it would be hard for you to love me too It just amazes me how two separate Energies can create a euphoric feeling How someone can be the main cause of your healing But I guess that explains how highs are only temporary Because euphoria cannot last forever
