God said, come as you are And I tried to pull up looking all fly I thought I could hide my baggage in a fancy designer bag Throw on some shades to cover the lust in my eyes I even pulled my name tag to the side to hide the identity I created for myself Cause I knew I wasn't who he intended me to be See, he wrote my story But I would edit the pages to do what I thought was best for me Well, I realized I wasn't the best author Cause I was writing unrealistic fantasies that left me feeling empty So I decided to return the pen and let him do his thing Here I am, coming to the savior Trying to look all saved Well, the minute I walked up to his doorstep Ooh, he stripped me of everything I owned Had me sitting there all bare and exposed With nothing but sin glistening on my skin I sat there ashamed, but his eyes affirmed me He looked at me with love He used a silk cloth to wipe off my sin I immediately felt like I was born again The fresh wind filled my pores It was a spiritual rebirth Where he wiped off my sin But left me covered in blood Attached to an umbilical cord that will never be severed I get to be connected with my maker forever See, this is what salvation looks like You come as you are But you do not remain the same as you were I got a new name tag now Cause I only identify as woman of God Daughter of the Most High This is the most secure relationship I ever had in my life It's a different type of loyalty Filled with unconditional love Something I never thought I was deserving of So I encourage you to Come as you are And bring your sin God's love will purify you
