What Christmas Is to Me

I've never roasted chestnuts on an open fire I've never decked the halls with boughs of holly I've never been on a sleigh ride Or stood under the mistletoe Never wished I had a river I could skate away on Although it's been said many times, many ways I will try to explain What Christmas is to me I'm dreaming of a white Christmas Dreaming, scheming, begging, pleading For the treetops to glisten this winter You might disagree but dear Lord, won't you please Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow And have a holly, jolly Christmas And in case you didn't hear Feliz Navidad, próspero año y felicidad And of course bring me home for Christmas You can count on me And hang a tin foil star upon the highest bough And have yourself a merry little Christmas now So you see That to me, it's the tree It's the lights, it's the scenes It's the time to believe in the simplest things It's the gifts that we give and the ones we receive It's the birth of a King for which all sleigh bells ring I've never felt the wounds in Jesus's hands I've never knelt to touch His scarred feet But the gift He gave to me that night Is real, is why the love light gleams He's the star on the tree He's the light, He's my King He's my King
