He'd lie and say he kept them because they were comfy But those wore out boots didn't have no soul He got every single cent out of his money That he paid for them ten long years ago And I never knew what he went through to keep his babies fed The sleepless nights through rain or shine with blisters on his hands Now everything I got and all I do is cause of Daddy's Wore Out Boots I remember when he jumped that first base fence After working overtime to pay the rent When I hit my first homerun and he nearly broke my neck With his boots covered in red dirt and me covered in his sweat And I never knew what he went through to keep his babies fed.
