He rode into town on a Monday I remember very well The air was clean, and the sun High in the sky We talked awhile and he told me Of the life he'd been livin' I have to say I admire that man He had style He was a hard working loner Always on the move Just takin' life one day at a time He'd work awhile kind of hang around Never in a hurry Then one day he'd just move on down the line He said son I am a drifter I live my life, the way I please I just take things slow and easy Loving life, and being free Some people call me an outlaw They say there's no place For my kind I just tell them it's a free world And just not to waste my time Some call me a redneck Some call me a freak Some say I've lost my mind But I'm free as an eagle, flyin' in the wind Takin' life for all I can find I travel cause I want to It's not that I'm on the run Although the law Hasn't done a thing for me I'm not a perfect angel I've done my share of wrongs But everything's considered I'm just me
