Rising Up

Growing up was hard, I had to face the pain, Trying to find the light, walking through the rain. Mama working late, I was all alone, Learned to hold my own, heart turned to stone. Late nights in the city, dreams of getting out, Chasing after hope, filled with fear and doubt. Friends I thought were real, turned their backs on me, Now I'm rising up, just wait and see. I'm just trying to make it, find a better way, Living for tomorrow, fighting through today. All these scars I carry, stories in my soul, Gonna keep on moving till I reach my goal. Looking at the stars, wishing on a dream, Trying to escape this life, or so it seems. People come and go, but I stay the same, Learned to play my cards, this ain't no game. Every step I take, lessons that I learn, Heart full of fire, watch the passion burn. Struggle made me strong, never gonna quit, Living for the moments, this is it. I'm just trying to make it, find a better way, Living for tomorrow, fighting through today. All these scars I carry, stories in my soul, Gonna keep on moving till I reach my goal. They don't know my story, they don't feel my pain, But I keep on pushing, dancing in the rain. Life can knock me down, but I'll rise again, With every battle fought, I know I'll win. So here I am, standing on my own, Grateful for the struggle, look how I've grown. This is my journey, every step I take, Living with purpose, for my own sake.
