The Grasshopper

I knew an old boy back in my school days He never studied like he should All he wanted to do was play the fiddle And then play all he could Well they called him Grasshopper They said he was lazy and sometimes it was just plain sad And sometimes he'd come to my house Just to piss off my dad And he'd say hey come on let's play We can go downtown we can mess around Let's do it before we're old and gray And I'd say hey I can't today I got chores to do I got homework to too It will be a while before I'm through I gotta help my mom with dishes And feed the gold fishes I gotta get my dog fed All before go to bed Old Grasshopper never worked a single day in his life Sometimes he come out to the farm Just to piss off my wife He had a new tattoo of a fiddle playing grasshopper Sitting on a pile of cash And the grasshopper had a sign saying kiss my grass And he would say come on let's play We can go down town we can mess around Let's do it before we're old and gray And I'd say hey I can't today I got chickens feed I got a heifer to breed I got a garden to weed I got to plant some seed I got to milk the cow I got a field to plow I got to shear my sheep All before I get to sleep Old Grasshopper had been gone Since he took the bus to Nashville one day And I was working the farm alone Cause my wife left and run away One morning old Grasshopper Showed up in a Mercedes Benz With his new wife and her blonde friend And I was thinking here we go again And he'd say hey come on let's play We can go downtown we can mess around Let's do it before we're old and gray And I said hey I can't today I got to fix my truck And my tractor's stuck Then it hit me all at once AndI said what the Then I looked the blonde ThenI looked at his wife Then I looked at his car And I thought about my life All I ever done was work hard all day And I yelled at him hell yes Let's go out and play And he said hey come on let's play We can go downtown we can mess around Let's do it before we're old and gray And I said hey I'm with you today Let's go have some fun That never never hurt no one The work will get done All I can say Let's go Let's go and play Let's go and play Let's go and play Let's go and play
