My Heart May Fail

We all have ups and downs on our journey But each moment writes our story Guide our every step along the way My flesh and my heart may fail but I know that You’re my strength The longer I live, the older I get The more precious life is I learn my own strength There’s beauty in aging Someone once told me it’s not the years in your life But the life in your years of fading Every journey has a destination Every life in the womb has an expiration There’s a solution to every equation And after every storm there’s restoration The other day I was thinking bout a friend of mine Healthy and young but gone too soon, and only God knows why We used to dream about our futures with spouses and kids Maybe a dog, a nice house with a white picket fence Now I just pray to appreciate the life I’m given And every moment I’m alive and not just living And it’s okay to not be where I wanna be even when it’s not fulfilling God’s got me where He wants me so I’ll still praise Him with thanksgiving We all have ups and downs on our journey But each moment writes our story Guide our every step along the way My flesh and my heart may fail but I know that You’re my strength I used to think how life would be if I took mine away Used to look in the mirror and not like what I see Sometimes I have my moments stuck in the past wish I could erase At times I look back at it like this is why You get the glory Pray that my enemies know they forgiven And all hardened hearts turn to You and know that You’d heal ‘em And all grudges between families are gone Only You get the vengeance Eyes are opened Ears would listen Satan has no power over What You give permission And with every lie that tries to cause demolition I’ll use Your truth as ammunition I speak togetherness in the mist of division A healing over our nation Our scars a testimony to Your power as a demonstration We need a revival It’s too many lives Feeling like this is survival Searching for that high It’s okay to not be where you wanna be Or know where to go God’s got his eye on the sparrow And He loves you more than you know We all have ups and downs on our journey But each moment writes our story Guide our every step along the way My flesh and my heart may fail but I know that You’re my strength
