My neighbour is dead Her house is just a shell She was under a table When incendiaries fell Barefoot and hungry Two children walk around Hide and seek for mercy On the steaming ground My neighbour went to kill To free his scattered land With anger on his mind And a rifle in his hand He travelled in a truck Through the wall of wire Shot everyone in sight 'sept those who sent the fire Now my neighbour is dead He was driving in his car I saw it on tv Glass across black tar Murdered through the windscreen Then someone took his wife From the seat beside him To the land of missile strikes My neighbour joined the force Last year he was at school They gave him a gun To shoot across the wall His uniform kept clean It matches all the guys Turning houses into shells Firing rockets in the sky My neighbours out of sight They live over the fence At night an orange glow Illuminates their tent Barefoot and hungry One child walking round Hide and seek for mercy On the steaming ground My neighbour lives across the sea So I can't hear the shells But know the men who sent them there Dine heavy on the hell
