We wanted to be safe, we wanted to be secure And we wanted somebody else to do it for us Now look at those that that are supposed to be our guardians, our defenders And see the ugliness exposed to the light of day When you beat an innocent man into submission What master do you serve When you grind your heel into the face of the weak and vulnerable Who are you protecting Where is honour Where is truth Where is the fantasy we're sold all of our lives Of heroes who will stand up for us and save us from our fears Can eyes full of tear gas see through the lie of the uniform Can voices be heard though teeth shattered by a baton There is no number of "acceptable" botched dynamic entries Even one person killed by a stray bullet is too many But you just want to put a knee on the neck of the people And hold us down until we're nice and quiet We have had enough of your hate in the guise of protection We have had enough of your violence in the name of peace Starlight tours and wellness checks gone wrong We see through your crimes that masquerade as law-and your time is ending
