I'm thinking others are living idyllic So now I feel acidic While scrolling social media, I'm livid They're asking for approval and I give it I follow them and grimace I screw my face and click on every image Instagram means instant panic While others peak I'm average Or maybe they're concealing all their baggage Far better, and I've become obsessive With my regrets, each thriving friend becomes a threat It's social media climb or death Jealousy is a primal chemical Colouring the grass in other fields more emerald And so it seems my eyes upon this glowing screen Are glowing green, are glowing green, are glowing green Are glowing green, are glowing green, are glowing green Woe is me Seeing my friends with wondrous lives Just undermines what I've done with mine So as their joys tumble by My thumb gives up reluctant likes And so descends my soul From true friend to envious troll It's terrible, I'm set to go Emerald from head to toe It is disturbing that Seeing my friends earning cash Is giving me the feeling that I need to be usurping that I must get over it Let social media go a bit And hope my jealousy will die As fast as smartphone battery life And so it seems my eyes upon this glowing screen Are glowing green, are glowing green, are glowing green Are glowing green, are glowing green, are glowing green Woe is me
