I was jumpin through time just the other day Then I started sweatin in the worst kind of way Life flashed before me as I was thinkin poor me Images of trauma display right before me How did I get inside this place where I Had to breathe heavy just to survive I cried thinkin about the times I almost died By my own hands still I'm glad they weren't tied Crawlin out the gutter it may have built character It also caused wounds which I never can repair Things make more sense after bouts of despair But you can see it on my face that I'm worse for the wear I stay underground to protect myself Cuz deep down inside I respect myself Don't be surprised if I don't ask for help When all else fails I reach for the shelf Faith is reflected from strength I learn to survive at any length Excuses are windows despite where the wind blows I choose to chase a safe haven for repose I stay underground to protect myself Cuz deep down inside I respect myself Don't be surprised if I don't ask for help When all else fails I reach for the shelf
