Elegy

I’ve been drifting through my days Through a carnival of fire I’ve been trying to find my way But when you are by my side I know all the stars by name And I ride the rising tide I was spinning round on a carousel Haunted by the sound of the morning bell And the cold electric light Now I’m floating over the great big sea Everything is moving away from me But I guess I feel alright I know it’s only been three days It feels like an eternity And now every line I write somehow feels like an Elegy We were introduced as friends I was caught up in their world I was so much older then There are things that I should say Like, “I’d leave it all for you.” But my senses fly away I can tell it’s time for a brand new start Waiting for the summer to change my heart I’ve been waiting for the sun I came through the storm and it made me brave I’ve been sailing high on the breaking waves And I’m falling towards the one I know it’s only been three days It feels like an eternity And now every line I write somehow feels like an Elegy
