A War That Is Not Yours

They say that in truth war is the first casualty So why is it so hard to avoid another fatality Making you march up and down the square For what they try to make us think to be fair And yet they never step foot outside of their lair? They entertain the news with a war that's not yours Drawing red lines and fuse with some sketchy colors Making you march up and down the square They give you clothes, training and even a gun Is shooting your brothers what makes you a good citizen? Why would you fight a war that is not yours? Takes courage to say the truth and sign with your name But wouldn't it be worse to end up killed in vain? Fighting the likes of yourself standing on the other side Who were probably fed the same kind of lies There is always a wailing mother when a soldier dies Under a president puppeteered by interests and buffoonery Of the silent majority that tells him what to do Lieutenants, captains, colonels and marshals They all say it's the right thing Because all of them, in the end, are only self serving Taking from a plate with the finest cuts that the war has to offer You provide fresh legs, breast, brisket, ribs being good fodder For an act so despicable it should not even be uttered Let alone be considered to make someone else suffer So let's once and for all speak truth to ourselves Wars don't ever benefit the poorest of souls Nor will it ever make your life even a tiny bit better So tell them that if they want the money they want you to conquer They should pull themselves by their bootstraps And die themselves for it Why would you fight a war that is not yours?
