Woke up as the sun rose over the Dome Came here two weeks ago With wishes that I'd never return home Pack my things and get back to the inverse parade With me in the middle Cheering, admiring all the gods made In the morning a haze usually fills my head But this morning it seems to me The haze wanted to fill the valley instead As I made my descent down to Mirror Lake I realized the valley would Never ever, ever look the same There were people together Laughing and talking about how their bodies hurt Sprinting through corn fields Screaming at corn fields They told me he was a good man And that's the most it's ever meant Nothing else meant much at that point Speeding through corn fields Dragging through corn fields There I was in the morning, too busy to begin mourning I couldn't even come home I couldn't even come home So I got in my car and escaped Through tree trunk tunnels with rings like memories I came searching for answers But the answers I found had all been burned down How long I'd be there I can't say But two weeks is starting to feel pretty far away I just wave goodbye to the Captain As ashes fell like Minnesota snow
