Lighthearted Longing

I wish that I could see the sky like you do And watch the wind toss 'round my hair I wish that I could feel the sun like you do And feel the warmth of summer's air But there's obstacles along the way to this simple goal And trying times are bound to have their say And all that I've ever worked for can simply crumble And I can only let them have their way I know that life can go so fast; that's for you My life actually's felt too long I know that you say you don't care; how could you When you know that something is wrong I wish that I could get the guts to just tell you But I'm scared of being alone again Life throws you straight onto your face; let's face the truth Your time is up, you're gone, you took your final stand If I could turn the tables, I would If I could turn the clock around If I could find the strength to do what needs to be done Then maybe we could figure something out Who knows what the future holds?
