Devil's Ball

I walk the streets at midnight Feel darkness on my fingertips And the white cold burns tingling on my lips And my eyes with shaded sight Search for darkness in the night Even though they know what's right Search for darkness in the night In woods I stand in ashes Of dreams I had that died And hopes that sunk Hopes that sunk in dark and dirty lies I put on forgiving glasses And walk with the sinning masses But every step that passes My faith stands up then crashes Because in my mind there's a Keep-Out Wall And I climb on over to the Devil's Ball Where I don't feel anything, nothing at all I dance over to the Angel's Keep and say Wake up! But they just want to sleep And all I can do is turn around and weep I stand under the moonlight And dwell in joyful bitterness Selfish anger cloaks me with touch of Satan's kiss And my soul with them takes flight Choosing darkness over light Giving into jaded sight Let's the black drown out the light Because in my mind there's a Keep-Out Wall And I climb on over to the Devil's Ball Where I don't feel anything, nothing at all I dance over to the Angel's Keep and say Wake up! But they just want to sleep And all I can do is turn around and weep Wake up angels from your sleep Wake up angels from your sleep One of the angels lifted his head Looked at me and sadly said He said, you may cry, and you may weep But our hands got tied when your hope went to sleep
