The Enemy

I'd take my time, I'd go to sleep If it weren't for the enemy Structuring my rhymes; hyphening my teeth Then leaving nothing save me I'd tell no lies, I'd be clean After his hold loosens of me Everything's fake, but it's no big deal Because I'd just wait, and wait, and wait Well, if nothing could help me to relive those moments; that ardor I so remember Then an arduous effort to sober my soul tell me fervor can't last forever And now being always gone When I needed you the most And how what all was sung Has made way to follow 'round its host Like how a wish defends me most The chance to forgive the chance to grow As fire to sin; poem to prose Reluctantly, then, to each their own
