Through your telescope it's all crystal clear It's different paths we travel on When you're all alone, and I'm way up here Will you be there when I get home I'm a grown man and I just learned what love is Love is a drug that makes a woman flawless Love is the overwhelming need to be where she is Love is unlike what they broadcast to me as a kid The feel of a warm embrace, kinda makes you appreciate Every blade of grass in the park where you had your first date Every grain of sand in the beach where she lives Every wave that crashed to the shore as you first kissed Take a step back Oh no we need the right parameters Take a step back We need a heart that bleeds for number Take a step back We need to invent a system that a human can toil in For decades and never seem to get any wisdom We're raising robots in an outdated model Learn when to recite the facts and learn when to follow Learn when to crumple to the will of authority, but Forget to love your friends unconditionally Through your telescope, it's all crystal clear It's different paths we travel on When you're all alone, and I'm way up here Will you be there when I get home And that my dear is why I have to leave you To steal back the heart of mankind the way that thieves do To gaffle the baffled minds of the masses To teach them what this beautiful life really is Life is not being scared of your neighbours It's not shocking headlines in local papers It's not defending industry reeling onward It's not pretending having feelings is awkward Take a step back It's true, that a robot can do what it is that you do Take a step back They designed automatons built to undermine you Take a step back But you must trust, with some dumb luck, and careful introspection That our journey will lead us to love our reflections So why did I pack up and fly away When I could be there with you as the music plays When we could be together, whenever, wherever The truth is, I'd rather be remembered forever Through your telescope, it's all crystal clear It's different paths we travel on When you're all alone, and I'm way up here Will you be there when I get home But when I was in college I thought about What areas that would would most affect the Future of humanity In my opinion, and, the three areas were The internet, sustainable energy, and space exploration Particularly if humanity becomes a multi planetary species There's kinda like a substantial bifurcation in our Sort of future if we're either out there among the stars On multiple planets, or if we're confined to earth until Some, obviously eventual, extinction event Not that I'm pessimistic about life on earth I mean, I think things are likely to be good
