Diving Back In

She’ll be back. Seeking the thrill. Too involved this time, can’t sit still. And so the root of the problem I stare in the face. Stare back never blinking, I know what’s in place. Sound of the drumming steady gathering pace. Once a rumble now a thunder as it engulfs this place. Too late. I’m diving back in. Too late. I’m diving back in. Take it back. Open the door. Let the past flood in, up through the floor. And so the dreams that we painted in each of our minds, crack like a river frozen in time. Flashlights and warning signs. Beckon and call.
