She cries out all her tears To put out the forest fires The smoke makes more appear Still the flames climb higher A national emergency Alarm bells sit dormant Rising casualties Matches her growing torment She's a pain magnet Give her all you've got Those around her get better However she does not She'll take all of your pain And keep it locked away But no one stops to ask her If she's doing ok A beautiful swan in a tar pit Sludge splashes her wings The bright white has diminished a bit Sadness creeps up when she sings Her wings are worn and weary After many years of inaction She's tried to break free But she can never gain the traction She's a pain magnet Give her all you've got Those around her get better However she does not She'll take all of your pain And keep it locked away But no one stops to ask her If she's doing ok A brilliant desert oasis A miracle for those in need They come on a daily basis To drink and to feed But slowly this beautiful paradise Begins to fade and run dry What once was thriving and bright Has now begun to die She's a pain magnet Give her all you've got Those around her get better However she does not She'll take all of your pain And keep it locked away But no one stops to ask her If she's doing ok
