Since We Grew Up

When I was four or five I'd draw under my bed Sprawled out on the purple carpet Homemade exhibits of art and Things were kinda pretty in that haze Before I was faced with darker days Is that all we are We get torn apart So we can learn to smile through the pain Laughing But everybody knows I'm not Here cuz we're so close They all Serve your heart of stone And I'm left alone with the echoes I'm sorry I was not enough I tried but I guess I'm not that tough And I wonder Who have you become All you've done is change Since we grew up When I was only nine You said a part of you had died Showed me the scars Tore me apart It's hard to think you wanted more than pain And how to move on How to be okay When your whole world pushes you away Is that all I was A fake because When they ask you why you went insane Screaming But we're still in school Man, you must take me for a fool They all Seem to think it's cool But they don't have to live by your rules Making The biggest scene you can And I wonder Why I never ran Guess I wished That I was still enough All you've done is change Since we grew up Two kids Barefoot in the grass I wonder Why we never laughed Grew out of childhood at nine Only wish that we had more time I'm sorry I was not enough I tried but I guess I'm not that tough And I wonder Who have you become All you've done is change Since we grew up
