I saw a mouse crawl inside my heater His little snout down and bound with whiskers His little tail traced the ground for treasure I saw a mouse crawl inside my heater His little paws crawled and clawed and conquered To make his home astute in stone and mortar It's not like out of spite that I've picked him He's my friend, but in the end I'll kill him I've seen him look through my stacks of books and records I've seen him read each day it seems he's smarter Am I bad, I paint me as a victim He's my friend, but in the end I'll kill him He is the clouds He is my mouse He could be me In the dirt and the trash and the masses of liquor, the treasures that no one will seek I saw a mouse crawl inside my heater His death is known in the stone I'm the author It's not like out of spite that I picked him He's my friend, but in the end I'll kill him
