Don't start something you can't finish What a stupid thing to say It presupposes life has no curve balls And it will always stay the same But some things are stepping stones The status quo is a moving target You have to let it go So if you're working hard to get there Make sure that it's where you want to go Cause having money it sounds nice But it's a high price if the cost is your soul A credit here semester there and it all adds up I don't just mean the student loans Failure pays out in dividends If you don't short sell yourself Cause some things are stepping stones It means that you don't know Where they're gonna take you You have to let it go go go Cause if you're working hard to get there Make sure that it's where you want to go Cause having fame it sounds nice But it's a high price if it means that you're alone All my heroes are dropouts All my heroes are dropouts Because it means that they found out What it means to fall To fail to feel like a loser To have awkward conversations about when You're going to get a real career To put in nights and weekends to pursue your Dream because you're too busy Working a 9 to 5 to get by To wonder if anything you're doing even matters And how expensive therapy is But they also found out If you don't like where you're going Might be time to find another road Cause certainty it sounds nice But it turns out it's theoretical Cause life is more than what we know
