I woke from silence of an infant sleep The sirens 'screams got hold of me Dreams that we safely guarded are lost but never gone In labyrinths childhood eyes can't see We grow old and the world seems a lonely place Years slip away, nights and days recede and descend How could it have come to this How a vision can persist Void of sense that we dismiss in this vacuum of truth... Little boring to be told Too old fashioned to be sold Take a bow before you'll go with the flow Back in times of the open doors When every star was worth gazing no matter the light It would share Recall the nights you spent all alone Drifting through the universes of parallel lives Are they still there Will all the light we offered up To ghosts of past mean just that much So we could pay for time we've got When we'll be leaving With all the hope we have attained Can we feel ready for the pain Seeing through eyes of the insane No signs of meaning All of the magic we lived for Does it seethe inside or is it forever lost In the days of old Caught in the true sense of nevermore Prayers are waiting to be heard, it's kind of too late As the night unfolds Will all the light we offered up To ghosts of past mean just that much So we could pay for time we've got When we'll be leaving If there's a lesson we have learned Something's not real when nothing's wrong Love you don't feel's not fully gone It just lies bleeding As we wonder how it could have come to this Future's weird from the slope of the abyss It's a call we just can't resist Backing our reasons till nobody cares Might be leaving but we never really go Try to guess but we never really know Then we note our skies are pretty low All become heroes but nobody dares Massing all that we attain Getting ready for the pain Can the eyes of the insane see much farther than mine...
