A herald for the ancient ones Caresses my mind with whispers Their arrival beckoned by gloom Foreshadowing our extinction A deep madness plagues our race Invading, pervading The very nature of our thoughts Hope exists, formless in the air Lingering outside our grasp We shed our skin So our minds may bathe in light The beat of my heart echoes eternal Pulsing throughout the will of all Lest our souls become devoured Consumed by the awakened blight For their path is unobstructed And they bring eternal night Wake me from this dream, I suffer My spirit reaches out in desperation To the intangible essence of life But my screams are met with silence Let those who stir from their ancient sleep Sleep again, in my arms, with peace.
