Alpenglow

I am the tide The Atlantic I've had my beach days But I've had my Titanics He was a mountain I've never known Hard to get my bearings on terrain I've never been shown Peaked through the tree line To see what could be mine Now I know Alpenglow Chased it from a car before sunrise That ephemeral halo swallowed the peaks Too bittersweet I realized it can't be reached I'm not chasing this high I'm gonna swim in my light Till I find what's mine to keep I've got bad habits of rose-tinted glasses Sunrise pink and purple of peaks so high Regrettably they played tricks on my eye Peaked through the tree line To see what could be mine Now I know Alpenglow Chased it from a car before sunrise That ephemeral halo swallowed the peaks Too bittersweet I realized it can't be reached I'm not chasing this high I'm gonna swim in my light Ohhh Ohhh
