I Had a Nightmare

I had a nightmare In a meadow of burning leaves Stuck in a circle of smoldering firewood Stacked to the sycamore trees I hollered for you, you said help yourself out, It's your dream after all. And when I turned around I woke up Screaming at nothing and punching a wall I had a nightmare No one was quite themselves Our minds meandered meticulously While our souls sat still on the shelves And even as the illusion faded And the world ripped apart at the seams I couldn't wake up, couldn't move an inch I was trapped in the world of dreams Here on a stormy night You will find your way Searching for the lost moonlight You'll see the light of day If we look to the sky On the wings of a Dream we'll fly, You and I All of my nightmares Try and tell me what to do I'm so sorry for all of my years Thinking never to question you Now in my dreams I find myself In this bonfire that I made I got myself in, I can get myself out I'm not afraid.
