celaine andrus poetry, texas şarkı sözleri
Well the house is the same as you left it
Though a little more worn than the day
You packed up your clothes and the dreams that we sowed
In the garden and then drove away
Now I never said that I'd never beg
For something not given freely
So please come back to Poetry Texas
Now please come back for me
I hope you know I never stopped trying
To be what you needed somehow
I tried to be who you wanted but you
Never saw who I am now
So if the city has left you wanting the life
That you once had with me
Then please come back to Poetry Texas
Now please come back for me
Now sometimes I drive up to old South Fork Creek
Just to get closer to you
I can still see your clothes hung from a branch
Low on that hundred year old willow tree
And now the fireflies float on the meadow at dusk
like when you filled that jar for me
And brought them all back to light up our bedroom
And in the morning set 'em all free
Now freedom's a dream that we hold in our minds
But it's our minds that won't set us free
So please come back to Poetry Texas
Now please come back for me
Now you cross my mind at the rodeo
Each year when the harvest is over
Remember that big Oak you carved my name it it's soul
There by the fork in the road
Now in a thousand years that tree will be here
But our lives will be someone's memory
So please come back to Poetry Texas
Now please come back for me
Please come back to Poetry Texas
Now please come back for me
