On the night I went to Gethsemane I took Peter, James, and John with me As I prayed, with tears and wept My friends were tired, so they slept Could you not wait with me one hour As I was seeking for the power To lay my life down for you My battle's almost done, This is the final one When Peter woke, he took a stand, and With the sword cut the ear off a man Judas came to point me out Disciples fled as I looked about Could you not wait with me one night As I was left alone to fight Three times Peter me denied The Rooster crowed, Peter cried Took me then to Pilates court, HE asked was I their Lord Said it's as you say, but my kingdom comes another day He gave a choice, Barabas or me But the people shouted, set Barabas free Now can you wait for me three days Nailed to the cross, life ebbs away But, the love I had is here to stay Father forgive them, I did pray The wounds I got they were for you So by my stripes your are healed too Three days I spent down in the deep Now the keys to death and hell I keep Now I Am here in your trials hour IN your hearts I'll be your power With my spirit, in you reside I'll never forsake or leave your side Day by day, hour by hour In your heart I'll be your power
