The staircase drips With oil and pale light Your little heart Beats blood and medicine In the stillness of the night The room fills up with sand As you silently step down And your voice is so loud I am wrapped up, I ignore every other sound Will you be long In the belly of a whale? Is it wrong to call for you In this need so lost and frail? Is it where I'm meant to stay? The curtains drawn Reflect a waning moon One fluttering soul Enfolds another Whirlwinds veiled in the room A warm, drowsy smile A head nuzzled in a chest The right words flowing forth Not like stardust Not spilled out in a breathless mess Will you be long In the belly of a whale?
