Star Chaser

It all flashes by Right before my eyes As city lights and sounds amass Into a blurry grey mess Static raining down On all that I can see As everything that's left Is swallowed up in a black mass It's become routine a life of dreary madness I wish to leave and never return too Every-time I look up at the stars They take my breath away All these fast moving colors burning my reality Though I know they seem too far to reach My feet are moving still Wanting me to run, too a future so unclear Can't you see how easy It is to be drawn in To these dancing lights That my eyes still chase blinding me to life. Faceless smiles and frowns The voices drowning out Everything till I'm left alone here in this cold void Cries that go unheard Concerns that feel unearned Though sometimes I can feel A wanting hand slip through the cracks There's times I want to take off Fade away, disappear and never return As I gaze up longing at the stars to come take me away Watching them all pass by While I'm suck another day Oh how I wish to break free And explore my hearts every desire To move on from these thoughts that keep me Trapped here even now All these tears building up To such an amount I swear I'm finally going to stop As my hand tries at last To reach that burning sky Every time I look up at the stars They take my breath away All these fast moving colors Burning my reality Though I know they seem too far to reach My feet are moving still Wanting me to run Too a future so unclear Every hope that I had Is crashing down in a violent stream of lights A dazzling show filled with hope To keep me chasing stars
