Alaska

I don't have my own Alaska That's what eats at me My father at my age was fighting coast to coast through waves Grandfather was fighting for this country But I don't have my own Alaska There's nothing left to unfreeze And it's not cold or dark enough here To bring me growth or misery So what can I brag about? Of what can I proud? There's nothing left to discover for me I'm jealous of my father Cuz he had it so much harder He struggled so much more than me I don't have my own Alaska None of my forests have trees All of them have since been cut Not by hand, but rather by machines I know every trip I take I'll have a safe return And that's the reason that I ache It's danger for which I yearn I don't have my own Alaska No frontiers await me I want to do something to make me a man But that's not what the world wants to see So what can I brag about? Of what can I proud?
