Closing Time

Stood at this counter nearly 8 hours today Too young for my back to hurt in this way When the manager calls I got nothing to say I'm thinking about closing time Strip malls at night aint a glorious scene Hawking cell phones and reading magazines If I sell anymore it's the day shift for me I'm thinking about closing time Sometimes I wonder if there's something else for me But the chances pass with the time Day after day it's a far cry from glory But for now it'll do just fine It's the bonds of a job we can't seem to resist We trade time for money and just work down the list And daydream of a place that no longer exists I'm thinking about closing time Sometimes I think about cutting out early And leaving the whole thing behind I don't really know what I'd do when I got there But I've got a place in my mind That's just a pipe dream of that there's no doubt I've got things to pay for and worry about But it's fifteen more minutes and I'm clocking out I'm thinking about closing time I'm thinking about closing time Ma'am did you find everything alright
