A Dream

You were in my dream last night Can't remember it all I remember the moon was shining bright How the water reflected the light And that you were a bird taking flight but smoke filled the moonlit sky Smoke filled the moonlit sky Blocking out that eerie glow Making you into parts of a whole Making you into parts of a whole And the whole time I lay asleep The waves came crashing down around me The fire came galloping through the trees And the earth stopped spinning My wings stopped gravity The earth stopped spinning I know that it was all a dream but I'm afraid to go to sleep If I close my eyes I might grow back those wings I might grow back those wings The world might melt around me It might melt around me
