Living on Mars

Looking at the night sky I can just about see home But far away from you is the planet that now I roam The ground is red here and there's not much here to be found There's walls of copper dust and nothing much else around I look to my past life and wonder if I'll ever return? The spaceship I got here has got no fuel left to burn I'm building the basics here just so I can barely survive No choice but wait another day until some others arrive Oh what it's like to be living on Mars The desert is cold and I don't like travelling that far Oh to be the first guy living on Mars It's lonely out here and all you can see are stars Another day comes and I'm still here waiting alone Longing for the day that I can finally travel home The locals are keeping their distance away from me That alien who arrived here has really got nobody Keeping my distance to show that I am no threat Or doing something that I would probably later regret Oh what it's like to be living on Mars The desert is cold and I don't like travelling that far Oh to be the first guy living on Mars It's lonely out here and all you can see are stars Finally, the radio on the ship sparks into life They're questioning how the hell that I survived Crew on my escape route tell me to get down the runway And what in the hell is a Space Cowboy anyway?
