Venus & Mercury

First day of December and the sky is as gray As the sweater that you wore and the very first day When the wind did howl and the wolves did growl all around you I passed you on the street you looked a little older A voice inside my head said you really should have told her But the words escaped me and somehow lately I've been tongue tied Driving through Nebraska with the temperature rising I thought i saw the answer way off on the horizon Though I didn't know the question yet I thought that I should mention it because You said you need to know the approximate direction I think that we should go and if there's any misconception Then we should try to solve it or at least maybe resolve it in New Mexico Way up in the sky Venus and Mercury are Perfectly aligned which only happens every Once in awhile so maybe we should find some time Could the magic that we felt in June Perhaps resurface now or sometime soon Or will we just get lost inside a Coldplay tune Last day of December I can barely feel my fingers They're packing up the bells, lights and all the singers Though we could always go inside warm up and also run hide we might just Lose our way Decide to save it for another day And hope the whole thing might just Fade to grey or maybe we should we wait Way up in the sky Venus and Mercury are Perfectly aligned which only happens every Once in awhile so maybe we should find some time Or maybe leave it all behind
