INSIDE THE BLUE BOX Winters are made of tales And silence took over us I fix embers in the fireplace Don't let the fire go out On my knees a book with yellowed pages The smell of ash and smoke I look inside the blue box And my secret treasure is waiting for me Brightly colored toys are watching me The entire box is in a stir They want to play with me The intrepid lead soldier will defeat all the enemies The spinning top avoids the loose bricks on the floor A small tin car tries to find a better road While colored marbles chase each other A wooden Pinocchio is in time out And the slingshot is waiting for spring Beyond the foggy glass A land covered in dirty snow Trembling birds take shelter on the windowsills A gray sky covers the countryside But in the blue box it's always summertime
