ACT II : The discovery

Assistant : Hey boss, come take a look at this. Detective : What is it ? You found something ? Assistant : It's a tape recorder, it was in the victim's hand when he died. I listened to the first recording, and you are gonna want to hear it. It seems like the victim was having a conversation with someone, or rather something. Detective : Something huh ? Alright let's hear it. [Presses play] Dariush : Okay so tell me this, why do we create ? Is it because we are bored ? Unknown entity : Maybe. Dariush : Or is it because we crave money and fame ? Unknown entity : Maybe. Dariush : Or might it be for the sake of creation itself ? Unknown entity : Maybe. Dariush : Do you have anything else to say than "maybe" ? Unknown entity : Listen my dear, this beautiful world made us one way or another. Now the way we were made or why we were made does not necessarily have a reason. Dariush : So ... so it's all for nothing ? Unknown entity : Anything human beings do is for nothing. You are born for nothing. You eat for nothing. You grow up for nothing. You wake up everyday to work miserable jobs for nothing. Dariush : So we distract ourselves with problems and issues to forget that anything we ever do is for nothing ? Unknown entity : Nothing is what makes the world turn. Yet if you started thinking too deeply about your regular lives, you might realize that it's all for nothing. And then you lose the sense you gave to your lives. Your raison d'être if you will. Dariush : But all of those things you mentioned are guided by survival. Unknown entity : True, you eat sleep and work to survive. Like animals do. Dariush : Then why do we create when it has nothing to do with our survival ? Unknown entity : Indeed my dear, it has to do with something far greater. You create not to survive, nor to live. You create to be immortal.
