Heard the news this morning Frost barely gone from the ground Compassion died without mourning Chased away without a sound Answering the calling Like a servant to a crown Trust comes with no warning Time after time they let you down Passed a sign out by the roadside Letters I could hardly see Like a memory lost its meaning Slipped away from me Spring will turn to summer Backs will turn and leave you cold I can't help but wonder When will mercy beat the gold
