Glimmer

When happiness comes It lingers so briefly Like bugs that burn out After only one day There's a skip in my step And that's chiefly When we stumble at night To the music we play Rise to the fall Glimmer ocean inviting And though we don't swim I'm still happy it's there Without a care Without a reason Glass buildings conspire, To shatter our memories All the stories we told Every setting has changed Our place in the sun Never seems like it's ending With so many moved on Still we remain Because illusion or real I'll hold on to the feeling That I had the first time When I came here with you Without a care Without a reason Every moment that we shared We will have again We'll always be there We're never leaving And even when the world forgets We can start again Wishing that the world we knew Would stay the same, it never grew And keep its shape in spite of change But I have to let it go Reaping now what we have sown We could fall apart or stand alone Or take comfort in the arms of those Who built another dream
