Aaliyah

Aaliyah sees an older man Sitting by himself in the little corner booth A bright gold ring on his left hand And wonders about his wife but she'll never know the truth It's not her place to ask Aaliyah greets a regular And reads him all the specials she couldn't memorize Then asks about his kids and work She doesn't really care but she'd rather tell a lie Than ruin somebody's night She says I'll bring your Sprite right out and smiles Aaliyah sweeps the friday floor And dreams about the shower she'll take when she gets back She knows she was made for more Than counting down the hours and ringing up the checks But it's alright for now She rolls her windows down and pulls away
