A Poem from The Hurt

I learned to stand when my knees would shake I learned to bend but refused to break I watched you fight your own battles alone But somehow your silence cut to the bone You taught me lessons I couldn't ignore To brace through the storms and to weather the war But love was a game I couldn't quite win I searched for it outside But it starts within You gave me strength in your own strange way But I carry the weight every single day Now I see the cracks you tried to hide But I've learned to forgive, though it hurts inside I'm finding my way, and I hope you do too Because loving myself was the hardest truth.
